The Regulation for Cloud Data Interoperability and Data Portability, issued by the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), gives effect to the regulatory recommendations concerning data interoperability and data portability in the Cloud Policy Framework to foster a competitive data economy and facilitate data reuse across various sectors in the State of Qatar as follows:
- by encouraging cloud Service Providers to embed data portability and Interoperability into their cloud services by requiring them to provide minimum contractual commitments to portability.
- by providing for essential requirements to be complied with to facilitate interoperability of data.
- by supporting the adoption of internationally recognised industry led standards to be used by cloud Service Providers.
- by providing that where customers are government entities, the cloud Service Provider will provide the application programming interface to allow that government entity to ensure interoperability between its computer systems and that of other government entities.
