CRA Hosts Workshops to Enhance Telecommunications Infrastructure

In its continuous efforts to develop the telecommunications sector, the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) held two workshops that brought together key stakeholders in the sector to address issues pertaining to the telecommunications infrastructure in the State of Qatar. These events took place from February 19 to 21 and from March 5 to 7, 2024.

The aim of these workshops was to evaluate the current state of the telecommunications infrastructure, discuss existing challenges, with the objective of finding effective solutions. The workshops saw the participation of telecom Service Providers, relevant government entities, and leading real estate developers. Prior to the start of these sessions, CRA undertook a comprehensive gaps analysis to pinpoint the challenges related to telecommunications infrastructure, which later formed the basis for the discussions that took place during these workshops.

In this regard, Ali Al-Suwaidi, Director of the Technical Affairs Department at CRA, expressed his positive outlook on the outcomes of the workshops. He highlighted the critical role of collaborative efforts and coordination among all stakeholders as essential for successfully addressing the telecommunications sector's challenges. "Participants’ ideas and insights will significantly contribute to the comprehensive framework, that CRA plans to issue with the aim of enhancing telecommunications infrastructure, not only to face current challenges but also to ensure the development and future growth of the telecommunications sector,” he remarked. Al-Suwaidi also reiterated the commitment to fostering close cooperation with all stakeholders, towards developing the sector in alignment with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
