The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has launched a public consultation on the draft Licenses Fees Regulation for Qatar’s postal sector. This document outlines the proposed fees structure for all postal license categories in the State of Qatar. Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to submit their views on the draft until October 21, 2024.
The draft Licenses Fees Regulation provide a clear and detailed framework for the different fees applicable to postal Service Providers. These fees include administrative fees, annual license fee, annual industrial fee, and concession fee. CRA developed the fee regulation following extensive benchmarking with postal service fees in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and other countries.
The proposed regulation will impact all postal licensees, who will be required to pay the applicable fees according to their license category. These fees are separate from any other charges that Service Providers in the postal sector may incur under other laws or prescribed by any other government entities. The proposed fees’ structure is designed to enable CRA to perform all the regulatory activities and functions for the regulation of the postal sector, while ensuring that Service Providers are providing services in an efficient and competitive manner.
This public consultation presents an important opportunity for stakeholders to contribute feedback on the proposed fees. Aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, which emphasizes economic growth, competitiveness, and enhanced public services, this initiative by CRA underscores its commitment to fostering a competitive, efficient, and transparent postal sector.
CRA invites all interested parties and stakeholders to submit their comments and feedback on the draft regulation via email to postalinfo@cra.gov.qa before the consultation period ends on Monday, October 21, 2024.
