CRA Urges Landlords to Grant Service Providers with Access to their Properties to Deploy Fiber Network

As per the current regulations, the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) urges landlords to give consent to service providers for access to their properties, for deployment of their fiber optic networks. This comes in line with CRA’s aim and efforts to encourage customer choice and to improve quality of service in the fixed-line market in Qatar.

The landlords’ consent form is included in the Reference Infrastructure Access Offer. The landlords’ consent enable service providers to reach the customers with their fixed fiber networks and to enhance their mobile services.

“The landlords’ consent will further support CRA’s efforts to encourage sustainable competition in the fixed-line telecommunications market in Qatar. The service providers will be enabled to provide innovative and competitive services, which will benefit consumers, and contribute to the development of the Information and Communications Technology Sector and to the development of the country’s infrastructure,” said His Excellency Mohammed Ali Al-Mannai, President of CRA.

During fiber deployment, service providers work with professional contractors to carry out the work inside the landlords’ properties. The probability of damages during the work is very limited. In any case in the unfortunate event of damages provoked by the contractors, service providers are liable for the damages and responsible for compensating the affected landlord.
