Qatar Recognized Among Leading Global Digital Performers
The State of Qatar has been recognized among the top-performing countries in the 2025 edition of the Information and Communication Technology Development Index (IDI), released by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Scoring 98.4 out of 100, Qatar continues to achieve notable progress in digital infrastructure, connectivity, service affordability, and internet usage.
The IDI is a global reference tool for measuring the development of the digital sector. It relies on two main dimensions: universal access, which assesses the availability of infrastructure and services, and meaningful connectivity, which focuses on the quality of use, ease of access, and efficiency of digital interaction. This year’s index included an evaluation of 164 countries worldwide.
Qatar recorded a perfect score of 100.0 in the universal connectivity, reflecting total mobile broadband coverage and internet connectivity – and 96.8 in the meaningful connectivity dimension—which assesses usage, affordability, and data consumption.
This represents a 0.6-point increase from its 2024 score and a 1.1-point gain since 2023, in line with the average annual growth among high-income economies.
Qatar’s performance (98.4) aligns it with leading digital nations such as Finland (98.7), Denmark (97.9) and Singapore (97.7) and Qatar achieved one of the highest scores among Arab States in this year’s edition.
These outcomes reflect the impact of regulatory efforts done by the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy. They also underscore Qatar’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, secure, and innovation-driven digital economy.
