Candidacy to the membership of the ITU Council 2027-2030

Qatar is standing for election to the ITU Council for the 2027–2030 term, with a clear and focused purpose: to translate the resolutions of the Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26) into measurable, impactful results for all Member States. The elections will take place during PP-26, which will be hosted in Doha in November 2026.

Qatar’s candidacy is driven by a firm commitment to fostering a more connected, inclusive, and sustainable digital future. We aim to ensure that the Council’s priorities for the 2027–2030 term are not just aspirational goals but realized achievements that make a tangible difference.
Qatar is also committed to championing regional priorities, ensuring that the ITU’s work delivers practical benefits from bridging digital divides in developing nations to fostering innovation in emerging economies.
Our goal is to serve as a collaborative and effective partner, representing the interests of “Region E” on the global stage.

Qatar will prioritize the mission to achieve universal and meaningful connectivity for all. We are dedicated to supporting the expansion of reliable and affordable infrastructure to close the digital divide permanently.
